Grand Slam is a summer program, exclusively for Athens-Clarke County Middle and High School students. Join us for an evening of games, giveaways, guest speakers, life enrichment activities, music, refreshments, sports, and more. Registration begins May 4th at 9:00 AM.

6:15-8:45: Organized Games & Activities at Lay Park
8:45-9:00 PM: Student Dismissal and Parent Pick-up
Grand Slam:
Week 1: Grand Slam Kickoff
Opening night of the Grand Slam should start off with a bang! A 70’s themed party will be just that! Some current music mixed in with some 70’s classics will be a sure-fire way to set the tone of The Grand Slam. With THE OFFICIAL Grand slam DJ; DJ Lauryn Trill on the 1s and 2s and Official Grand slam Host/MC; LG on the microphone…this party will definitely be funkadelic !
Week 2: Play at Lay
Live DJ and host to foster in some good music and vibes while kids enjoy the festivities, Tonight we will tie-dye some SWAG to take home and battle it out with a Nerf War. There will also be some very interesting glow in the dark games.
Week 3: Pool Party Tingz
With a live DJ and MC kids will enjoy the sun, pool and music to make it an extreme vibe. We are going even bigger this year adding a giant water inflatable, pool games and more!!
Week 4: Go Big or Go Home
Who wants to be the biggest ? This night will be filled with the BIGGEST GAMES we could find. Giant Volleyball, Madden, NBA 2K, Pong, and Twister, just to name a few. This night is all about BIG ENERGY & EVEN BIGGER FUN!
Week 5: 4 The Culture
Two Premier Step teams and dance teams will perform. The kids will have an opportunity to witness two styles of dance that are pivotal to the culture. Kids can wear HBCU paraphernalia and will have a chance to ‘Meet the Greeks’!
Week 6: ISSA Vibe Hip Hop Concert
Who doesn't love a good clean hip hop concert? We’d be remiss not to support our local artist. This would be a great way to showcase the amazing talent that we have in our community. But first, we are going to enjoy hip-hop karaoke/bingo, charades, trivia, and of course a Paint & Vibe! Oooh Yeah it's giving VIBES ALL NIGHT!!
Week 7: Who Run It
This will be a fun-filled event jam packed with camaraderie and competition as the youth go head-to-head with law enforcement, firefighters, and parents! This will be a creative effort in bridging the gap between government orgs and the youth in our community!
Week 8: 2nd Annual Summer Prom
We definitely had to run this one back! This is the biggest event of the summer and the finale of the Grand Slam! Participants will experience prom during the summer. We will crown a King and Queen, give out awards for best dress, best sneakers, & best drip for the gentlemen.
