Camp Fun at SCDC
Camp is held at Sandy Creek Nature Center & Sandy Creek Park. Sessions are June 7–July 16, 2021, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Early and late care is available. Registration is limited to 4 weeks per camper. SCNC Members receive a 10% discount. 

Designed as an outdoor oriented and active camp. Campers will swim, enjoy outdoor games, hike, and more. If your children love the outdoors and lead an active lifestyle, this camp is for them. All sessions include swimming, canoeing, hiking, archery, crafts and outdoor games. (weather permitting)

Following COVID precautions, there will be a reduced number of campers. All campers will spend a full day Monday, Wednesday, Friday at Sandy Creek Park, and Tuesday, Thursday at Sandy Creek Nature Center. Campers will not be riding a bus between sites. Masks are required.

June 7-11 Outdoor Adventures Hike the woods in search of wildlife. Use binoculars to identify birds. Build shelters that can withstand wind and water. Improve your archery and canoeing skills.

June 14–18 Planet Protectors Each themed day will show ways to protect our planet. Compete in a compost challenge, learn how to filter water, build art with recycled materials, make seed bombs to spread native plant seeds.

June 21–25 Camp-ology Play in the mud to celebrate mud month. Learn how to forecast the weather to beat the heat. See how chemistry is part of our lakes & streams. Apply your new knowledge of physics for success in boat races and other challenges at Sandy Creek Park.

June 28-July 2 Fantastical Kingdoms Travel through the forest & use your imagination. Look for signs of ballybogs, the beavershark, and bigfoot. Search under bridges for trolls and make fairy houses. Share stories & artwork of favorite amazing creatures at a special campfire.

July 6–July 9 Back in Time - (no camp July 5) Step back to a time before modern technology. Explore the brick factory ruins. Enjoy pioneer activities at the 1790 era Log House. Trek around Sandy Creek Park & look for signs of the past.

July 12–16 Aquanauts Wade creeks & swim in the lake. Build a boat, search for aquatic animals, & find out what lurks in the waters of Sandy Creek & Lake Chapman. Paddle through a canoe obstacle course. View pond water for microscopic creatures & test our stream’s water quality. Try your hand at a casting & fishing tournament.

July 19–23 Animal Olympics Do you stack up against the speeds of animals? Watch box turtles go over the finish line, compare your aim in archery with the skills of a bird of prey. End the week with an Olympic celebration and challenge!
