Teen Camp Fun at SCDC
Camp is held at Sandy Creek Nature Center & Sandy Creek Park. Sessions are June 7–July 16, 2021, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Early and late care is available. Registration is limited to 2 weeks per camper. SCNC Members receive a 10% discount.

Designed as an outdoor oriented and active camp. Campers will swim, enjoy outdoor games, hike, and more. Weekly themes focus on the outdoors, nature, science, and outdoor recreation. Sessions include swimming, kayaking, hiking, archery, and outdoor skills/activities. (weather permitting)

Following COVID precautions, there will be a reduced number of campers. All campers will spend a full day Monday, Wednesday, Friday at Sandy Creek Park, and Tuesday, Thursday at Sandy Creek Nature Center. Campers will not be riding a van between sites. Masks are required.
 
June 7-11 - Park Explorers - Teens plan their week & choose their own activities at Sandy Creek Park & Nature Center. Follow the Greenway, visit animals, take hikes & discover places they’ve never seen. Journey around Lake Chapman both by boat & on foot. Visit seldom seen historic sites and waterways.
 
June 14–18 - Earth Warriors - Can your actions and choices make a difference each day? Create armor from recycled materials, build seed bombs & slay invasive plants. Design habitats for animals & monitor the health of our waterways. Make a display at the nature center to show visitors how they can become earth warriors too!
 
June 21–25 - Water Wanderers - Let water lead you on adventures this week. Explore a creek and kayak around Lake Chapman. Use nets, fishing gear, and depth finders. Trace raindrops from the sky to the sea using a larger than life giant map. Follow the path of stormwater along our local creeks & rivers.
 
June 28–July 2 - The Earth and Beyond - From the planetarium to homemade rockets, we’ll check out our planet & beyond. Use telescopes to view the sun and distant objects. Create solar prints and a human sundial. Follow a larger than life solar system model along the Greenway. View some Sci-Fi moves for fun and see how many technologies are part of our life today.
 
July 6–July 9 - Tech Trek - (no camp July 5) Go where no camper has gone before! From prehistoric tools to preparing for the zombie apocalypse, practice using tools to survive through time. Build a fire using primitive technology. Use a drone and GPS to measure trees & find animals. Spend a day playing pioneer games & old time activities at the 1790 Log House.
 
 July 12–16 - All About Animal Care - How do we take care of our venomous snakes? What do we feed to our animals? Discover what it takes to keep our animals fed & exhibits maintained. Set up an aquarium & terrarium for the week with our animal caretaker.
 
 July 19–23 - Amazing Race Week - Campers will participate in our version of this popular challenge. Teams will solve outdoor puzzles, compete in nature challenges, traverse trails, and create scenarios for other campers to complete. Includes boat races, outdoor skill contests, and other activities.
