Wildlife Explorers Camp at Memorial Park (7-12 years)

Join us this summer at Memorial Park and Bear Hollow Zoo! Explore outdoor and nature-based activities from swimming and hiking to animal encounters and more.

Week 1: June 5th-9th
"Bear in the Big Zoo House" (Habitats)

Welcome to the big zoo house! Learn about the habitats of the many animals at Bear Hollow Zoo! Tour through the zoo and see all of the cool spaces our animals live in! You will create your own habitat, go on outdoor adventures, and more. The big zoo house will be waiting for you to come and play!

Week 2: June 12th-16th
"Nature’s Night Shift" (Nocturnal Animals)

Do you ever wonder what animals are out after dark? What they do under the cover of darkness? Bring your flashlight and learn all about the animals that work the "night shift." You will meet some of our nocturnal animals in the zoo, test your skills as a night animal, and more!

Week 3: June 20th-23rd *NO CAMP MONDAY, JUNE 19TH*
"ZPD: Zoo Pawlice Department" (Tracks)

Calling all officers! Now that you made it out of the academy, it’s time to go to work! Pull out your magnifying glasses as we investigate a mystery! Use evidence and clues to solve animal related cases and mysteries from the zoo. Learn animal tracks, ID, and more to help identify the culprits!

Week 4: June 26th-30th
"Oh Scute!" (Reptiles/Amphibians/Life Cycles)

Are you ready to learn all about the sleek, shelled, and shiny creatures we have in the zoo? Meet our reptile and amphibian friends this week and learn all about their lifestyles, life cycles, and more.

Week 5: July 3rd & July 5th-7th *NO CAMP TUESDAY, JULY 4TH*
"Chomped" (Diets/Food Web)

It takes skill, strength, and smarts to survive in the wild, especially when you aren't at the top of the food chain! Let's learn about the food web and see how Bear Hollow Zoo caters to some pretty big appetites around here. Come with us to learn about those wild animals who may just get chomped!

Week 6: July 10th-14th
"The Bee’s Needs" (Conservation/Pollinators)

Get ready for a bee-utiful quest! A new mission will help us learn about the animals at Bear Hollow Zoo and the ones who live in our backyards and teach us how we can help be the best conservationists we can be to make a difference worth making a BUZZ about!
 
Week 7: July 17th-21st
"Zoo-manji" (Adaptations)

Animals are built for survival. What special adaptations do they have that help them meet their needs? Let's explore the amazing adaptations of animals and see their animal powers come to life! We will create our own animals with special adaptations/super powers, and use our senses to solve challenges, and more!

Week 8: July 24th-28th
"Animal Instincts" (Senses)

What do you hear? What do you see? Let's explore how animals use their senses or instincts every day! Use your senses, test your skills, and see how your natural instincts compare to the animals at Bear Hollow Zoo!


Camp registration is limited to 4 weeks per camper. Campers must bring a bag lunch. Camp hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. Early Drop Off (7:30 am to 9:00 am) and/or Late Pick Up (4:00 pm to 5:30 pm) are available for an additional fee.

Participants will receive via email a guide to camp including what to bring daily and camp rules/needs. You will also receive a pickup tag to display in your vehicle at drop off/pick up times on the first day of camp.
