Therapeutic Activities - Suit Up. Lace Up. It's a Sneaker Ball! ACC Leisure Services offers Therapeutic Recreation programs, services, and activities that are accessible to all individuals with disabilities. ACCLS supports and encourages opportunities for inclusion in all programs. In addition, adaptive programs are available to provide individuals with disabilities a modified experience for recreational success.
These programs are intended to assist persons with disabilities in an adapted environment, which may be modified in terms of progression, skills breakdown, techniques, or equipment.Staff will be present to assist with facilitation and provide adaptions for skill development. If one-on-one supervision is needed, a parent/guardian or other caregiver should be present for the duration of the program. Adaptive programs are designed for individuals who require additional assistance or modification.

Kinderswim - Kinderswim 9am - Lay Park The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Kinderswim program is a free initiative started with the goal of helping ACC children learn how to swim. The program is offered to all Athens-Clarke County 5-year-old children at no cost. The lessons are broken into three, 45-minute classes a week for three weeks, for a total of nine lessons, and are available at all of the ACCLS pools. Participants who complete at least seven of the nine lessons will receive a free pool pass for the remainder of the pool season.Rules & Tips - All swimmers are required to wear a swimsuit. Cotton is not allowed in the pool. - Participants cannot register after the first two lessons to ensure swimmers have adequate time to learn to swim safely. - Participants should bring their own towels. - Although there is no cost, participants must register online. - Participants must be 5-years-old to take part in Kinderswim.

Grand Slam - Grand Slam: Week 1: Game Night Kickoff Grand Slam is a summer program, exclusively for Athens-Clarke County Middle and High School students. After Opening night, registration will be handled week to week, beginning the Saturday of each Grand Slam week. Campers will explore the world of fire fighters and police officers with action packed games and activities. Let's get ready to suit up!Week 3: Above and Beyond (June 15-18)Put on your goggles and white coat something may explode! Campers will examine and analyze the life of scientist! Week 4: All Star Adventure (June 22-26)Time to play like champions! This week campers will live the life of an athlete! Get ready for some all-star challenges and activities!Week 5: Leaders of the Future (June 29-July 2)From lessons plans to leadership! Through exciting crafts and activities campers will discover what teachers do each day to keep us smart! Week 6: Mic Drop Madness (July 6-July 10)Sing it loud, move around, feel the rhythm, hear the sound! Music, rhymes, and fun collide. Get ready, its mic drop madness camp wide!Week 7: Be the Main Character (July 13-17)Lights, Camera, Confidence! Camper will travel into the world of vlogging expressing their creativity and self confidence! Lets be positive role models to the world! Week 8: Hearts and Hustle (July 20-24)An apple a day keeps the doctor away! Lay Park Teen Camp - Week 1 June 1-5: "Set the Vibe" Week 1: "Set the Vibe" (June 1-5)The first week of camp is all about setting the vibe, where campers settle in and get to know the camp culture. Through interactive games, group activities, and shared experiences, campers build relationships, learn expectations, and start forming a strong sense of community. The goal is for everyone to feel comfortable, included, and excited to be here.
Week 2: "Think Fast" (June 8-12)This week challenges campers to stay sharp and think on their feet. Through interactive games, timed challenges, and quick-response activities, campers practice strategy, focus, and problem-solving in a fun, high-energy environment. This week encourages independent thinking while also building confidence through friendly competition and teamwork.Week 3: "Move It" (June15-18)This week shifts the focus to energy and motion. This week encourages campers to stay active through movement-based games and outdoor play that keep the momentum going. The emphasis is on participation, healthy competition, and channeling energy in positive ways while staying engaged and connected.Week 4: "Explore/Experience" (June 22-26) This week campers step into new environments and experiences that spark curiosity and expand their perspectives. This week encourages participants to stay open-minded, ask questions, and engage with the world around them in new ways.Week 5: "Lead the Way" (June 29-July 2)This week brings together the skills campers have built throughout the summer. Campers are encouraged to step up, take initiative, and model positive behavior within the group. Through shared responsibilities and group activities, campers practice leadership, decision-making, and supporting their peers. This week highlights confidence, accountability, and making a positive impact within the camp community.Week 6: "Create and Express" (July 6-10)This week is all about campers exploring their creativity through hands-on art and self-expression activities. This week encourages individuality, imagination, and confidence as participants bring their ideas to life and share their unique perspectives with the group.Week 7: "Community Vibes" (July 13-17)This week campers explore the importance of community and respect while learning how individuals can make a positive impact on the world around them. Through thoughtful discussions and shared experiences, participants reflect on history, culture, and the role they play in their communities.Week 8: "Showcase and Celebration" (July 20-24)This week is a time to look back on the summer and recognize all that campers have explored and accomplished together. Campers have opportunities to share selected projects, demonstrate skills, and participate in group recognition activities in a supportive environment. Swim School - Swim School Session 1 - 5:30pm Lay Park Athens-Clarke Leisure Services offers small group swim lessons for children ages 3 and up. All lessons are taught by certified lifeguards. Classes are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Your child must be 3 years old or older and potty trained to participate in Swim School.The lessons are broken into three, 45-minute classes a week for three weeks, for a total of nine lessons, and are available at the Bishop Park, Lay Park, and Heard Park pools.
