One-Day Metal Enameling 101 Workshop with Leslie Litt

Learn basic techniques for fusing glass to copper plates. Make enameled earrings through sifting, painting and sgraffito. Enamel and the cut shapes of copper will be supplied and participants will take home a finished piece of jewelery!
Water Soluble Oils: 101 with Lauren Adams
Tuesdays, September 9 - October 14 (5:30pm - 7:30pm)
Do you love the working time of oils but hate the toxicity and fumes of solvent thinners? Water-mixable oils might be the perfect balance for you. These are real oil paints that can be mixed with water, mediums or natural oils. If you work in a space without good ventilation or are sensitive to solvent thinners and turpentine, water mixable oils can give you a fume-free oil painting experience!
Please bring 2 pieces of heavy mixed media or other paper or surface approx. 8 x 10” to the first class. We'll start with color exercises. Basic supplies are provided. Students must supply their own canvas or panel (11 x 14" max.)
Off the Chain with Shaunia Grant
Tuesdays, September 9 - October 14 (5:30pm - 7:30pm)
In this course, students will explore different techniques for chain making. Students will develop skills in jump ring fabrication, finishing, clasps, and weaving techniques. All levels welcome, though skills in sawing and soldering are helpful. Materials will be provided.
Drawing & Watercolor Basics: Intro to Perspective with Toni Carlucci
Thursdays, September 11 - October 16 (3:00pm - 5:00pm)
Knowing a few simple tips and techniques on perspective can enable you to draw things with depth and dimension. We will practice with atmospheric perspective as well as linear perspective. No need to be intimidated about perspective. We'll make this fun and effective. Students will learn how to use cool and warm colors as well as line, value and texture to create the illusion of space in a simple drawing or painting. No previous experience necessary. Basic supplies are provided.
Beginner-Intermediate Ceramics with Amanda Jane Crouse
Thursdays, September 11 - October 16 (5:30pm - 7:30pm)
Students of varied experience levels will be working on open forms, both functional and figurative. Techniques covered in hand building will include coil building, pinching and slab construction. There will also be an introduction to the potters wheel. Surface techniques, texture treatments, and the addition of handles, spouts, and feet will be covered. The last class period will be spent glazing work.This is a great class for those looking to see what kinds of things they like to make out of clay, and for those looking to practice what they’ve learned and get help with technical problems. Students will learn all the basics of surviving and thriving in a group or private studio. Basic supplies are provided.
