We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!Teen Media Arts Club presents a FILM SCREENING: May 7th   6-7:30 PM ALL WELCOME, Community RoomTeen Fashion Design Club FASHION SHOW: May 14th  6-7:30 PM ALL WELCOME, Atrium Gallery-Teen Fashion Design & Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon & Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Our Teen Media Arts Club Mentor is Kidd Fielteau! With a background in beauty and fashion photography Kidd now runs Athens based Fell2 Photography. Students will engage in the process of videography by forming their own story ideas and then creating and editing digital video. Our long-term goal is to build media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, cultural experiences, and historical events in a global learning context. In addition we provide a safe place for young people to learn, have fun and create meaningful projects.LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. Summer Art Camp 2024We start each day of art camp with a simple Tai Chi exercise as a group to facilitate mindfulness through this team-building activity. Explorations in Contemporary Art: 5-7 Year oldsExciting hands-on art projects will allow young artists to have fun exploring the world of contemporary art while developing fundamental art skills, learning about new artists and new vocabulary and meeting creative challenges.  Projects are designed to use various media including drawing, painting, mixed media and 3-D. Studio Art Practice: 8-11 Yr olds  Exciting hands-on art projects will allow young artists to have fun exploring the world of art while developing fundamental art skills, learning new vocabulary and meeting creative challenges. Young artists will learn a variety of techniques, using a selection of media, in studio art classes taught by professional teaching artists. Students are invited to question, explore, investigate, and solve problems as they create art and learn about professional-level studio practices.  There will be opportunities to work in 2D and 3D media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics and more.Puppetry and Studio Art: 8-11 Yr oldsParticipants will work on a combination of puppetry and other studio art projects like printmaking, painting/drawing, and ceramics.  Each camper will have finished studio art pieces.  They will also have a finished puppet and there will be a puppet performance at the end that we invite family/friends to experience! Supplies are provided. This will be a fun and informative class for young artists/puppeteers (or just enthusiasts) that are 8-11 years old.  About the Puppetry Guest Teacher: Claire Kennedy Ritzler has been involved in education and theatre arts for 35 years with a specialty in puppetry.   She has served as education director at the Center for Puppetry Arts and as education and program director for Young Audiences of Atlanta. We are happy to welcome her back!Children may be checked in as early as 8:45 AM and as late as 9:15 AM.  Children must be walked into the building and checked in by the parent/guardian.Pick-up will take place at 2 PM.   Please provide a snack and a lunch for your child each day.  Refrigeration is not available but food will be kept in a cool place. We ask that you not pack peanuts or peanut butter if at all possible.  Thank you for your cooperation. Also, you may send your child with a water bottle for them to use throughout the day that they can refill.  Please mark child’s name and your phone number on the water bottle and lunch boxes. Children should not bring valuables such as phones, jewellery, toys, or games to camp.  We cannot be responsible for items either becoming lost or damaged. We host ever-changing exhibitions in our wonderful galleries.  We welcome your visit to the Arts Center’s galleries during regular operating hours: Tuesday & Thursday, 10 AM-8 PM; Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, 10 AM–5 PM.  It is always free of charge. Health and Safety: The health and safety of your child is our first priority.  If circumstances have changed since you filled out the health form and your child’s needs have changed, let us know. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon & Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Our Teen Media Arts Club Mentor is Kidd Fielteau! With a background in beauty and fashion photography Kidd now runs Athens based Fell2 Photography. Students will engage in the process of videography by forming their own story ideas and then creating and editing digital video. Our long-term goal is to build media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, cultural experiences, and historical events in a global learning context. In addition we provide a safe place for young people to learn, have fun and create meaningful projects.LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our teen clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships with mentors while gaining valuable and appreciable skills.Teen clubs DO NOT meet in July.The Arts Education Department at Lyndon House Arts Center is dedicated to providing high-quality arts education curriculum and enrichment to youth, adults, and teens in the Athens area. We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!Teen Media Arts Club presents a FILM SCREENING: May 7th   6-7:30 PM ALL WELCOME, Community RoomTeen Fashion Design Club FASHION SHOW: May 14th  6-7:30 PM ALL WELCOME, Atrium Gallery-Teen Fashion Design & Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon & Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Our Teen Media Arts Club Mentor is Kidd Fielteau! With a background in beauty and fashion photography Kidd now runs Athens based Fell2 Photography. Students will engage in the process of videography by forming their own story ideas and then creating and editing digital video. Our long-term goal is to build media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, cultural experiences, and historical events in a global learning context. In addition we provide a safe place for young people to learn, have fun and create meaningful projects.LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our teen clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships with mentors while gaining valuable and appreciable skills.Teen clubs DO NOT meet in July.The Arts Education Department at Lyndon House Arts Center is dedicated to providing high-quality arts education curriculum and enrichment to youth, adults, and teens in the Athens area. Summer Art Camp 2024We start each day of art camp with a simple Tai Chi exercise as a group to facilitate mindfulness through this team-building activity. Explorations in Contemporary Art: 5-7 Year oldsExciting hands-on art projects will allow young artists to have fun exploring the world of contemporary art while developing fundamental art skills, learning about new artists and new vocabulary and meeting creative challenges.  Projects are designed to use various media including drawing, painting, mixed media and 3-D. Studio Art Practice: 8-11 Yr olds  Exciting hands-on art projects will allow young artists to have fun exploring the world of art while developing fundamental art skills, learning new vocabulary and meeting creative challenges. Young artists will learn a variety of techniques, using a selection of media, in studio art classes taught by professional teaching artists. Students are invited to question, explore, investigate, and solve problems as they create art and learn about professional-level studio practices.  There will be opportunities to work in 2D and 3D media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics and more.Puppetry and Studio Art: 8-11 Yr oldsParticipants will work on a combination of puppetry and other studio art projects like printmaking, painting/drawing, and ceramics.  Each camper will have finished studio art pieces.  They will also have a finished puppet and there will be a puppet performance at the end that we invite family/friends to experience! Supplies are provided. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Our Teen Media Arts Club Mentor is Kidd Fielteau! With a background in beauty and fashion photography Kidd now runs Athens based Fell2 Photography. Students will engage in the process of videography by forming their own story ideas and then creating and editing digital video. Our long-term goal is to build media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, cultural experiences, and historical events in a global learning context.
