We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!
Please note: Teen Clubs will go on break for the month of July 2022.
- Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well.
-Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years.
-Teen Media Arts Club. We are thrilled to welcome our new Teen Media Arts Club Mentor, Kidd Fielteau! With a background in beauty and fashion photography Kidd now runs Athens based Fell2 Photography. Students will engage in the process of videography by forming their own story ideas and then creating and editing digital video. Our long-term goal is to build media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, cultural experiences, and historical events in a global learning context. In addition we provide a safe place for young people to learn, have fun and create meaningful projects.
LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required. The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates and are offered free of charge to our teen participants.
Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5. We will eat outside when possible.
Our clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills.
The Arts Education Department at Lyndon House Arts Center is dedicated to providing high-quality arts education curriculum and enrichment to youth, adults, and teens in the Athens area. We host adult evening classes, workshops, after-school youth classes, 3 Teen Clubs, and a comprehensive summer arts camp experience. The Arts Center includes 7 professional-level art studios including Painting/Drawing, Printmaking, Fiber, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Jewelry/Metals. There is a separate children's wing with wonderful facilities, a covered outdoor work court used as an outdoor studio and grassy lawns.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE REGISTERING A RECENTLY TURNED 12-YEAR-OLD AND HAVING TROUBLE, PLEASE CALL US AND WE CAN HELP YOU.
