Teen Cartoon/Illustrator's Club entry 0001
The  Lyndon House Arts Center (LHAC) is the local community arts center in downtown Athens, GA.  LHAC provides area citizens with a positive experience in the arts and advancement through the arts encouraging all to foster their own creativity and development.

LHAC currently hosts 3 Teen Clubs in Media Arts, Comics/Illustration, and Fashion Design/Sewing. These are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates, and are offered free of charge to our teen participants.

Teens are encouraged to bring a drink and a snack or dinner.  The group does take a break and used to have pizza, but due to Covid-19 concerns, we are asking everyone to just eat what they bring (we look forward to the time that pizza is back).  Thanks!

Due to Covid-19, there are limited numbers of participants allowed, and registration is required.  There are no drop-in options at this time.

The Arts Education Department at LHAC is dedicated to providing high-quality arts education curriculum and enrichment to youth, adults, and teens in the Athens area.  Programs include adult evening classes, after-school youth classes, teen clubs, and a comprehensive summer arts camp experience.

The Arts Center includes 7 professional-level art studios including Painting, Printmaking, Fiber, Photography/Media Arts, Ceramics, Sculpture, and Jewelry/Metals.

There is a separate children's wing with wonderful facilities.  Additionally, there is a covered outdoor work court used as an outdoor studio, a historic house museum, and several galleries with ongoing rotating exhibitions. The campus of the Arts Center is quite beautiful with big grassy areas, wonderful trees, and a formal parterre garden

Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club
Our talented teaching artists, Tabitha Fielteau and Moana Balogh continue to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. In addition, the club provides a safe place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well.

Teen Media Arts Club
Students will engage in the process of videography by forming their own story ideas and then creating and editing digital video. Young filmmakers will work with our teaching artist Isaac Johnson. Isaac Johnson is a local artist and filmmaker whose interests include analogue photography, cinematography, and being outside in the sunshine. A graduate of the Entertainment Media Studies program at UGA, Johnson’s filmmaking experience spans a wide variety of roles in both the production and post-production processes. When not behind the camera or in the darkroom, he is passionate about local politics, sustainable agriculture, and music. Our goal is to build media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity, cultural experiences, and historical events in a global learning context. The long term goal is to foster the local media arts community into becoming mentors to young people with the possibility of participants turning their new skills into professional opportunities in the TV/Film industry in Georgia and beyond. In addition, the club provides a safe place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills.
