SPRING CLASSES:

Art Time with William Stephanos, for 4-6-year-olds. Six Fridays, 3:00 - 4:30 pm beginning on March 18, 2022. This course combines artistic technique with authentic self-expression. Young artists will explore a range of fine art media including 2D and 3D, painting, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, paper-making and more.  We open with circle time and sketchbook time.

Public Art with Amanda Burk and William Stephanos, for 11-17 year-olds.  8 Thursday meetings from 4-6:30 pm beginning March 17, 2022.  Learn about and make public art!  Public art can include murals, sculpture, memorials, integrated architectural or landscape architectural work, community art, digital new media, and even performances and festivals!  This class will be co-taught by Amanda Burk and William Stephanos.
This class will include walking tours of beautiful public art in downtown Athens, special guests to discuss various public art subjects, and the making of public art that will be installed on the campus of the Arts Center and Lay Park Community Center.  This is an 8-week class, there is no class on April 7, 2022.  Pizza party at every class!  (We provide pizza and drinks)

Drawing from Observation with Toni Carlucci,
for 7-11 year-olds starting March 15, 2022.  Knowing and practicing the basics of drawing will enable you to learn to draw.  Learning to "see" is the key.  Students will receive instruction and drawing exercises to help the student "see".  Contour drawing is an excellent way to train one's eye to really see.  "Sighting" is another of the drawing basics.   Sighting helps students draw what they see in proportion.

Attention Parents/Guardians:  We will send out text/email reminders and updates through the MyRec software.   Please make sure that notifications have not been turned off and confirm your settings are correct.  If not, you will miss out on valuable information pertaining to your child’s class.

Please have young artists wear clothes appropriate for messy art fun (they might get paint or other permanent marks on them).  We will use smocks when possible, but they may not prevent stains on clothing.
