Family Saturday Art Workshops invite families of all kinds to engage in hands-on art-making inspired by a selected exhibition on view at the Lyndon House Arts Center. Each free, drop-in session focuses on the work of one contemporary artist currently featured in one of our galleries. Participants explore themes, materials, and techniques drawn from the artist’s practice, using these as a point of inspiration. Designed for children and adults to create together, the workshops foster an inclusive, collaborative environment where families can connect through art. Guests are encouraged to visit the exhibition either before or after the workshop to deepen their experience.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
All ages and family constellations welcome. Free and open to the public.

Art Time (Ages 4–6)
After-School Art Enrichment
Art Time introduces young children to the joy of making art in a welcoming, creative environment. With a low child-to-adult ratio, this class emphasizes exploration, self-expression, and foundational art skills. Through age-appropriate projects, students will experiment with a variety of materials such as paint, clay, drawing tools, and printmaking techniques. Each session begins with circle time and sketchbook work to encourage reflection and focus. The emphasis is on the creative process—learning how to think like an artist and explore new ideas with curiosity and confidence.
Art Time with Meredith Emery, 1.5 hours, 6 classes weekly
---starting Wednesday September 3, 2025
Art Time with Mr. William, 1.5 hours, 6 classes weekly

Studio Art Practice (Ages 7–11)
After-School Art Enrichment
Studio Art Practice is designed for elementary-aged children who are ready to engage more deeply with artmaking. In a supportive studio setting, young artists will explore a wide range of materials and methods including drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, and video art. Emphasis is placed on developing technical skills while also encouraging personal expression and creative problem-solving. The small class size allows for individualized instruction and mentorship. Projects may include 2D, 3D, papier-mâché, handmade books, jewelry, collaborative works, and more all aimed at building confidence and fostering a sense of belonging in a community art center.

Attention Parents/Guardians: We will send out text/email reminders and updates through the MyRec software. Please make sure that notifications have not been turned off and confirm your settings are correct. If not, you will miss out on valuable information pertaining to your child’s class.
Please have young artists wear clothes appropriate for messy art fun (they might get paint or other permanent marks on them). We will use smocks when possible, but they may not prevent stains on clothing.
