ACC Leisure Services offers Therapeutic Recreation programs, services, and activities that are accessible to all individuals with disabilities. ACCLS supports and encourages opportunities for inclusion in all programs. In addition, adaptive programs are available to provide individuals with disabilities a modified experience for recreational success. These programs are specifically designed for populations with disabilities.  The programs are intended to assist persons with disabilities in an adapted environment, which may be modified in terms of progression, skills breakdown, techniques, or equipment.Staff will be present to assist with facilitation and provide adaptions for skill development.  If one-on-one supervision is needed, a parent/guardian or other caregiver should be present for the duration of the program.  Adaptive programs are designed for individuals who require additional assistance or modification.
 
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM    Fit and Strong! - Fit and Strong!
Fit & Strong! combines flexibility, strength training, and aerobic walking with health education for sustained behavior change among older adults with lower extremity osteoarthritis. Classes will take place twice a week for 8 weeks at Lay Park Community Center.

Leisure Services' After School Program is focused on providing a safe environment that supports creativity, educational growth, and active living. Here at Athens Clarke Gymnastics Academy we believe every child is important and valuable. We pledge to coach and develop each child that walks through our doors regardless of their level of talent. Our main goals are to provide a clean, safe, fun learning environment and to build the self esteem of every child. We develop healthy, happy children from the inside out! We teach developmental gymnastics and use it to develop coordination, confidence, self-esteem, respect for others, sportsmanship, improve reading skills and much more in our students. Our Staff We have the best instructors and coaches in the industry with well over 100 years of combined experience! Our staff has been carefully hand selected because of their previous experience in gymnastics, working with children, and knowledge of the sport. The most important reason they were chosen is because of their desire to work with children and to make a difference in their lives. As a staff we work hard so your children can play hard. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for trusting us. We pledge to be good role models for your children and to keep their safety and well-being our number one priorities. Staff members attend state, regional and national training programs throughout the year as well as monthly training because maintaining up-to-date skill development and safety awareness one of our top priorities. Health Policy If your child has been sent home from school due to a high fever, s/he is not allowed to participate in gymnastics until s/he has been fever free without the aid of fever reducing medication for 48-hours. If your child’s class has been quarantined due to COVID, s/he is not allowed to attend gymnastics until the quarantine period is over. All individuals entering an ACC facility, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Students and anyone observing will have temperatures taken upon entering the Gymnastics facility. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be allowed to enter the facility and must be fever free without the aid of fever reducing medication for 48-hours before returning. If a participant or family member has been exposed to anyone testing positive for COVID, the participant/family member must wait 5 days from the exposure, get tested and receive a negative test result before returning to class or the facility. Our observation area is limited to 12 seats.

TEEN CLUBS Holiday Schedule for November/December/January 2021/2022 Please be advised of our upcoming holiday schedule.  We will be taking a few weeks off from hosting the Teen Clubs. No Teen Media Arts Club or Teen Fashion Design Club:       o   November 23       o   December 21, 28       o   January 4 No Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club:       o   November 25       o   December 2, 23, 30       o   January 6We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!- Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Students will engage in the process of film-making and videography by forming their own story ideas, creating and editing digital video. Young filmmakers will work with our teaching artist Isaac Johnson who is a local artist and filmmaker whose interests include analogue photography, cinematography, and being outside in the sunshine. Media Club builds media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity and cultural experiences. The long term goal is to foster the local media arts community into becoming mentors to young people with the possibility of participants turning their new skills into professional opportunities in the TV/Film industry in Georgia and beyond. LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills. No Teen Media Arts Club or Teen Fashion Design Club:       o   November 23       o   December 21, 28       o   January 4 No Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club:       o   November 25       o   December 2, 23, 30       o   January 6We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!- Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Students will engage in the process of film-making and videography by forming their own story ideas, creating and editing digital video. Young filmmakers will work with our teaching artist Isaac Johnson who is a local artist and filmmaker whose interests include analogue photography, cinematography, and being outside in the sunshine. Media Club builds media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity and cultural experiences. The long term goal is to foster the local media arts community into becoming mentors to young people with the possibility of participants turning their new skills into professional opportunities in the TV/Film industry in Georgia and beyond. LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills. Exercises taught are designed to draw proportion, line and volume, shadow and shape. This course can be taken multiple times as personal instruction based on your skill level is available in this nurturing studio setting. Pottery with Amanda Jane Crouse: Students will learn basic ceramic methods from using the potter's wheel to hand-built techniques in addition to how to finish their pots using standard decorating and glazing techniques. This class is for students with no prior pottery experience on up to the intermediate student, all are welcome. Jewelry/Metals with Jane Richie: This course offers students a 6 week introduction to metalsmithing through basic methods of fabrication including: design, sawing, filing, soldering, and finishing.Oil Painting with Michael Ross: This class will cover fundamental techniques and materials in oil painting with an emphasis on painting from life. Students will be given an introduction color mixing and color theory as well as a chance to explore various painting mediums and substrates. Six Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm beginning on January 4, 2022.  Knowing and practicing the basics of drawing will enable you to learn to draw.  Learning to "see" is the key.  Students will receive instruction and drawing exercises to help the student "see".  Contour drawing is an excellent way to train one's eye to really see.  "Sighting" is another of the drawing basics.   Sighting helps students draw what they see in proportion. Art with Amanda Jane Crouse, with 7 - 11-year-olds. Six Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm beginning on January 4, 2022.  This multimedia class combines creative writing and abstract art to encourage kids to pull beauty and their unique vision from chaos through the embracement of the element of chance in the process of art making. Studio Art with William Stephanos, with 7 - 11-year-olds. Six Thursdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm beginning on January 6, 20221. We will work in a variety of media and techniques that may include ceramics, painting/drawing, nature art, jewelry and more.Art Time with William Stephanos, for 4-6-year-olds. Six Fridays, 3:00 - 4:30 pm beginning on January 7, 2022. This course combines artistic technique with authentic self-expression. ACC Leisure Services offers Therapeutic Recreation programs, services, and activities that are accessible to all individuals with disabilities. ACCLS supports and encourages opportunities for inclusion in all programs. In addition, adaptive programs are available to provide individuals with disabilities a modified experience for recreational success. These programs are specifically designed for populations with disabilities.  The programs are intended to assist persons with disabilities in an adapted environment, which may be modified in terms of progression, skills breakdown, techniques, or equipment.Staff will be present to assist with facilitation and provide adaptions for skill development.  If one-on-one supervision is needed, a parent/guardian or other caregiver should be present for the duration of the program.  Adaptive programs are designed for individuals who require additional assistance or modification.

These programs are specifically designed for populations with disabilities.  The programs are intended to assist persons with disabilities in an adapted environment, which may be modified in terms of progression, skills breakdown, techniques, or equipment.Staff will be present to assist with facilitation and provide adaptions for skill development.  If one-on-one supervision is needed, a parent/guardian or other caregiver should be present for the duration of the program.  Adaptive programs are designed for individuals who require additional assistance or modification.

All individuals entering an ACC facility, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Students and anyone observing will have temperatures taken upon entering the Gymnastics facility. Bring blankets and chairs to enjoy classic films on the lawn. Warm up with s'mores, hot chocolate, and apple cider around the fire, enjoy holiday music, and bring your letters to drop in Santa's mailbox.Patrons are invited to socially distance on picnic blankets and chairs to enjoy the films outside. (not a drive in). Should COVID-19 cases increase and social distancing on the lawn is not permissible, attendees will be notified by December 10, 2021 that this event will shift to a drive-in experience.

Holiday Makers Workshop Series 2021.  Saturdays December 4, 11, 18, 2021  For three Saturdays in December, this year’s Holiday offerings will consist of adult art workshops, refreshments and tours of the studios. Workshops include: Jewelry with Jane Ritchie on December 4, 11 - 2pmCeramics with Amanda Jane Crouse on December 18, 11 - 2 pmPrintmaking with Amanda Burk on December 18, 11 - 2 pmOnline registration is required.  Adults: $10   There is limited availability.__________________________________________________Winter Session starting January 2022:Drawing from Observation with Toni Carlucci: Drawing from Observation trains your eye to “see” while learning the fundamentals of mark making. Exercises taught are designed to draw proportion, line and volume, shadow and shape. This course can be taken multiple times as personal instruction based on your skill level is available in this nurturing studio setting. Pottery with Amanda Jane Crouse: Students will learn basic ceramic methods from using the potter's wheel to hand-built techniques in addition to how to finish their pots using standard decorating and glazing techniques. This class is for students with no prior pottery experience on up to the intermediate student, all are welcome. Jewelry/Metals with Jane Richie: This course offers students a 6 week introduction to metalsmithing through basic methods of fabrication including: design, sawing, filing, soldering, and finishing.Oil Painting with Michael Ross: This class will cover fundamental techniques and materials in oil painting with an emphasis on painting from life. Students will be given an introduction color mixing and color theory as well as a chance to explore various painting mediums and substrates. Basic supplies are provided: a list of additional, optional supplies, will be provided during the first class.  Canvas/panels are not supplied, and you should bring one with you to the first class. No previous experience required. This class may be taken more than once. Six Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm beginning on January 4, 2022.  Knowing and practicing the basics of drawing will enable you to learn to draw.  Learning to "see" is the key.  Students will receive instruction and drawing exercises to help the student "see".  Contour drawing is an excellent way to train one's eye to really see.  "Sighting" is another of the drawing basics.   Sighting helps students draw what they see in proportion. Art with Amanda Jane Crouse, with 7 - 11-year-olds. Six Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm beginning on January 4, 2022.  This multimedia class combines creative writing and abstract art to encourage kids to pull beauty and their unique vision from chaos through the embracement of the element of chance in the process of art making. Studio Art with William Stephanos, with 7 - 11-year-olds. Six Thursdays, 4:00 - 5:30 pm beginning on January 6, 20221. We will work in a variety of media and techniques that may include ceramics, painting/drawing, nature art, jewelry and more.Art Time with William Stephanos, for 4-6-year-olds. Six Fridays, 3:00 - 4:30 pm beginning on January 7, 2022. This course combines artistic technique with authentic self-expression. No Teen Media Arts Club or Teen Fashion Design Club:       o   November 23       o   December 21, 28       o   January 4 No Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club:       o   November 25       o   December 2, 23, 30       o   January 6We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!- Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Students will engage in the process of film-making and videography by forming their own story ideas, creating and editing digital video. Young filmmakers will work with our teaching artist Isaac Johnson who is a local artist and filmmaker whose interests include analogue photography, cinematography, and being outside in the sunshine. Media Club builds media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity and cultural experiences. The long term goal is to foster the local media arts community into becoming mentors to young people with the possibility of participants turning their new skills into professional opportunities in the TV/Film industry in Georgia and beyond. LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills. LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills. Students and anyone observing will have temperatures taken upon entering the Gymnastics facility. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be allowed to enter the facility and must be fever free without the aid of fever reducing medication for 48-hours before returning. If a participant or family member has been exposed to anyone testing positive for COVID, the participant/family member must wait 5 days from the exposure, get tested and receive a negative test result before returning to class or the facility. Our observation area is limited to 12 seats.

TEEN CLUBS Holiday Schedule for November/December/January 2021/2022 Please be advised of our upcoming holiday schedule.  We will be taking a few weeks off from hosting the Teen Clubs. No Teen Media Arts Club or Teen Fashion Design Club:       o   November 23       o   December 21, 28       o   January 4 No Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club:       o   November 25       o   December 2, 23, 30       o   January 6We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!- Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Students will engage in the process of film-making and videography by forming their own story ideas, creating and editing digital video. Young filmmakers will work with our teaching artist Isaac Johnson who is a local artist and filmmaker whose interests include analogue photography, cinematography, and being outside in the sunshine. Media Club builds media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity and cultural experiences. This course can be taken multiple times as personal instruction based on your skill level is available in this nurturing studio setting. Pottery with Amanda Jane Crouse: Students will learn basic ceramic methods from using the potter's wheel to hand-built techniques in addition to how to finish their pots using standard decorating and glazing techniques. This class is for students with no prior pottery experience on up to the intermediate student, all are welcome. Jewelry/Metals with Jane Richie: This course offers students a 6 week introduction to metalsmithing through basic methods of fabrication including: design, sawing, filing, soldering, and finishing.Oil Painting with Michael Ross: This class will cover fundamental techniques and materials in oil painting with an emphasis on painting from life. Students will be given an introduction color mixing and color theory as well as a chance to explore various painting mediums and substrates. Basic supplies are provided: a list of additional, optional supplies, will be provided during the first class.  Canvas/panels are not supplied, and you should bring one with you to the first class. No previous experience required. This class may be taken more than once. This class is for students with no prior pottery experience on up to the intermediate student, all are welcome. Jewelry/Metals with Jane Richie: This course offers students a 6 week introduction to metalsmithing through basic methods of fabrication including: design, sawing, filing, soldering, and finishing.Oil Painting with Michael Ross: This class will cover fundamental techniques and materials in oil painting with an emphasis on painting from life. Students will be given an introduction color mixing and color theory as well as a chance to explore various painting mediums and substrates. Basic supplies are provided: a list of additional, optional supplies, will be provided during the first class.  Canvas/panels are not supplied, and you should bring one with you to the first class. No previous experience required. This class may be taken more than once. TEEN CLUBS Holiday Schedule for November/December/January 2021/2022 Please be advised of our upcoming holiday schedule.  We will be taking a few weeks off from hosting the Teen Clubs. No Teen Media Arts Club or Teen Fashion Design Club:       o   November 23       o   December 21, 28       o   January 4 No Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club:       o   November 25       o   December 2, 23, 30       o   January 6We offer three Teen Clubs at the Lyndon House Arts Center!- Teen Fashion Design/Sewing Club. Our talented teaching artist, Tabitha Fielteau continues to contribute mentorship and valuable design and fabrication instruction. The club meets in the Lyndon House Arts Center's wonderful fiber studio with lots of sewing machines and all the tools needed to focus on design and sewing projects. Learn how to go from design to garment with the guidance of a professional fashion designer. Already having basic sewing skills is a bonus, but this program is open to beginners as well. -Teen Cartoon/Illustration Club. Our talented teaching artist and professional illustrator Robert Brown, continues to contribute wonderful lessons in drawing techniques, storytelling, cartoons/comics, Anime, Star Wars and everything Pop Culture. Robert has been mentoring this club for over 15 years. -Teen Media Arts Club. Students will engage in the process of film-making and videography by forming their own story ideas, creating and editing digital video. Young filmmakers will work with our teaching artist Isaac Johnson who is a local artist and filmmaker whose interests include analogue photography, cinematography, and being outside in the sunshine. Media Club builds media arts skills that support a variety of career options, higher order thinking, problem-solving, creativity and cultural experiences. The long term goal is to foster the local media arts community into becoming mentors to young people with the possibility of participants turning their new skills into professional opportunities in the TV/Film industry in Georgia and beyond. LHAC Teen Clubs (12 years and older), are free, but online registration is required.  The clubs operate on a "drop-in" basis, meaning that if you are available to participate in a club meeting, that is great, and if not, you can just skip it without having to register for specific dates, or having to cancel. Teen Clubs are financially supported by the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and AthFest Educates and are offered free of charge to our teen participants. Please have your teen bring $5 (cash only) for pizza. If they prefer to bring their own food, you can skip the $5.  We will eat outside when possible.Our clubs provide a safe & nurturing place for young people to gain life skills, to learn, and have fun while creating meaningful relationships and valuable and appreciable skills. Leisure Services' After School Program is focused on providing a safe environment that supports creativity, educational growth, and active living. Every child learns sportsmanship, teamwork and values necessary to be successful both on and off the court.
